Scrabble Changes the Rules

Scrabble has changed the rules for the first time in the history of the game. Mattel releases the game with the new rules printed in July.

The new rules allow for proper names to be allowed as legal words. This includes place names, people’s names, company names, and brands. Previously, few proper nouns were allowed in the game.

Mattel believes the change will encourage younger generations to play. Mattel will continue producing a Scrabble with the original rules. Might I suggest we call that Scrabble Classic?

Any die hard Scrabble players, brace yourselves. There are quite a few city names that can take care of those pesky Q’s and Z’s.
