FDA expands probe
After the Food and Drug Administration slammed a Johnson & Johnson drug manufacture, the investigation is spreading. The last investigation led to the recall of 50 children’s non-prescription drug products.
McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a division of Johnson & Johnson, is now under the microscope. The FDA is investigating manufacturing practices in an attempt to find out if the Fort Washington, PA, plant is just one of many with poor practices or just a solitary occurrence. The FDA has not given a number of other facilities it will investigate.
McNeil intends to conduct a quality investigation of its own. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has scheduled a hearing for May 27 and will examine the recall.
