The Latest Twitter News

Twitter seems to quickly have begun to overshadow its social media competitors.  These days Twitter is the communication tool of choice for many individuals and businesses.  Several huge stories have broken about Twitter in the past week.  Keep up to date with recent news to use Twitter as best as possible for your business, and to pick up on exciting water cooler talk.  Here’s some of the most popular Twitter talk:

-Barack Obama (Twitter username @BarackObama) is hosting a “Twitter Town Hall” today at 2 p.m. ET.  Have a question about jobs and the economy for our President?  Tweet your question in under 140 characters (Twitter’s character limit) with the hash tag #askobama, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey will moderate. You can follow the live stream coverage of the event on the White House website.

-EVERYONE is tweeting.  Think the Catholic Church is antiquated when it comes to communication?  Not anymore.  His Holiness Benedict XVI sent his first tweet June 28th from an iPad. The Pope tweeted at followers, “Dear Friends, I just launched  Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ! With my prayers and blessings, Benedictus.”

-Twitter may soon look more like Facebook.  A message wall on Twitter profiles is being tested, which would allow users to post replies and mentions directly onto profiles.

-Now worth around $7 billion, the value of Twitter has almost DOUBLED in past seven months.
