New Point-Of-Service Credit Card System

Everyone’s experienced what a hastle it can be to deal with a business that doesn’t accept credit cards, and small business owners are aware that only accepting cash and checks can turn many customers away.  However figuring out a point-of-sale credit card system for services on the go can seem pretty impossible.

If you’re in this dilemma check out Square, a credit card reader that plugs into iPhones, iPads and Androids.  Created by Twitter Co-Founder Jack Dorsey, the device is free and the company charges a 2.75% per transaction fee.

With devices like Square many of the 26 million businesses in the U.S. that don’t accept credit cards now can, imagine the effect products like Square could have on the economy.

  1. I think square will definitely have an effect on our future. Not sure Twitter will end up being the leader but this technology was coming. Already in many parts of the world the cell phone provides the ability to charge purchases directly to your cell phone. So why not here in the US. It is time for this technology.

    • Wow! It’s amazing to think about how much commerce in the U.S. would change if we could make purchases from our cell phones. It will be fascinating to see how changes like this will affect small businesses.
