If you are a veteran or employ veterans your company can look forward to tax credits and more business. Many national and state legislators want to encourage employers to hire former soldiers and to reward the employers that already do.
At the moment 18 states have legislation promoting veteran owned businesses. In addition President Obama has proposed a challenge to hire 100,000 veterans and their spouses by 2014. Obama also wants to give tax credits to companies employing veterans. Another advantage of veteran employees and veteran-owned businesses it that many veterans successfully use their patriotic past to market their company.
Veterans are often times standout workers as well. Obama points out that they have already had extreme leadership experience at a young age and says, “That’s the kind of responsibility and experience that any business in America should want to take advantage of.”
Now there are more reasons than ever to hire veterans or to start you own business if you are a veteran. Not only is there legislation favoring veterans, but American consumers are also eager to support former soldiers and the businesses they are involved with. The men and women brave and loyal enough to defend their country may also be your ideal employees.
