Facebook’s New Small Business Initiative

Facebook wants to help your small business.  The social networking site is expected to reveal an initiative today that will give away $10 million of advertising credits and will teach small business how to use the site for marketing.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce and National Federation of Independent Business are teaming up with Facebook for the program.  Beginning next month there will be a cross-country road trip (locations haven’t been specified yet) to educate small businesses on how to utilize Facebook for their marketing plans.

Facebook also plans to give away $50 in advertising credits per a company to up to 200,000 small businesses.  The give away will be begin in January and the discount will be first-come first-served.

An estimated 9.2 million small businesses currently have Facebook pages.  Today Facebook is expected to reveal their plan to grow small business Facebook users and increase the number of small businesses that use the site for advertising.  How do you use Facebook for your business?

  1. Facebook is leveling the playing field for small business. It is giving small companies a way to reach markets that they did not have before. It also provides an easy way to have creative display, since facebook is a formatted creative platform.
