Better than Black Friday for Small Businesses?

Saturday November 26th will be the busiest day of the year for many small businesses nationwide.

Yesterday American Express CEO Kenneth Chenault and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced that November 26th will be the second-annual Small Business Saturday.  On this day American Express will reward members with $25 in credit for every $25 spent at selected small business across the country.

“Helping small businesses thrive is the biggest thing we can do to put our economy back on track.  And that’s because small businesses are the economic engines to our neighborhoods,” said Bloomberg.

Last year participating small businesses reported Small Business Saturday sales to be 28% higher than sales on the same Saturday the previous year.

Not convinced you want to participate yet?  The first 10,000 businesses to sign up will also receive $100 in free Facebook ads.  If your business doesn’t qualify to be a part of Small Business Saturday still consider heading to local stores to support their business and receive American Express credit.  FedEx will also be giving away $1 million worth of $25 Shop Small American Express Gift Cards on their Facebook page.

Small Business Saturday, which falls the Saturday between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, will be a rewarding and exciting day for small businesses and their customers.  Make sure to mark November 26th on your calendar!
