Retired Athletes Gone Franchise Owners
In the franchise business? Soon you might be in competition with your favorite athletes. The International Franchise Association and the Professional Athlete Franchise Initiative are planning a program to assist retired athletes interested in opening franchises.
The two organizations hope to host summits and make an educational certificate program for former sports hotshots with franchise aspirations.
PAFI Executive Director Michael Stone said professional athletes are, “realizing more effort should be placed into planning for a professional life beyond sports.”
Even the best athletes can’t compete in professional leagues forever and eventually have to find new careers. The International Franchise Association and the Professional Athlete Franchise Initiative want to encourage retired athletes to open and run franchises. Don’t be too surprised if the next fast food joint you visit is owned by a former ESPN star.
