Black Friday was a Success

For months small businesses have been debating potential outcomes of this year’s Black Friday.  The big day was last Friday and many retailers were pleasantly surprised by an extremely profitable day of sales.

Small businesses’ fears about a plummet in Black Friday sales were negated, 2011’s Black Friday was in fact more profitable than the Black Friday in 2010.  Total retail sales over the weekend were $52.4 billion, an increase of 16.4% from the previous year.  The average shopper spent $398.62 over Thanksgiving weekend.
