Small Business Optimism on the Rise
Maybe it’s the better than anticipated black Friday sales reports or the hope of the new year that starts few weeks. Maybe small businesses are just tired of feeling gloomy, regardless the National Federation of Independent Business small business optimism index rose in December.
The optimism index rose from 90 to 92 and is now higher than it has been since February. Although the index is still in the range usually seen in a recession, it has continued to rise the past three months. This pattern shows that small business owners are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
Another sign businesses are feeling more positive is that the number of small firms that plan to hire rose to 7% this month, up from 4% in October.
