Best Buy Wants to Offer Small Business Support
You may soon find yourself looking somewhere unexpected for you IT needs. Many of us have visited Best Buy’s Geek Squad for our personal technology problems, but after a new acquisition the mega store will begin offering services for small businesses.
Best Buy’s purchase of Mindshift Technologies Inc., which currently provides IT support to 5,400 small and medium businesses, will close next week. In 2002 Best Buy bought Geek Squad, which offers in-store IT assistance to individual consumers. Supplying IT services gives Best Buy a competitive advantage that discount online retailers, which threaten the store’s survival, do not have.
Many small businesses do not have the budget to employ in-house IT experts, which creates a market for affordable services like Mindshift. Current and prospective consumers will be relived to hear that sources at Mindshift say prices will not increase after the acquisition.
Small businesses often encounter IT problems on a daily basis, but they will soon have a new option for IT support. With the purchase of Mindshift Technologies Inc. mega store Best Buy will begin offering IT services to small and medium businesses.
