Recession Hit Mom and Pop Restaurants Harder
If you own a local restaurant chances are the recession has hit your business harder than it has chain eateries. NPD Group recent revealed a report on how the economy has affected the restaurant business.
Nationwide the total number of restaurant visits dropped over 2 billion between 2008 and 2011. Independent restaurants, however, were hit much harder by the rocky economy. In fact, 87% of the decrease in visits was at small restaurants.
The amount of chain restaurants is also growing. This past year the total number of chain restaurants increased 4511.
