Startup That Helps Recent Grads
The best entrepreneurs are skilled at identifying markets that demand goods or services that are not available. A huge market right now is unemployed college graduates, there are about 1.5 million of them. Sean Clem, of Tennessee, launched Gradspring to respond to this group’s needs.
“A whole generation is being denied the opportunity to realize the promise that society makes to our students,” Clem said. “Go to high school, make good grades, go to college and you will be rewarded entrance into the middle class. That’s becoming a more and more challenge prospect for recent graduates.”
Gradspring assists recent grads in several ways. It prepares them for the job search and interview process, as well as provides a resource of job listings.
“Our goal was to create a place where a recent grad or college senior could go and be assured of a couple things,” said Clem. “One, all the opportunities on Gradspring require zero to two years of experience. Two, all the jobs require at least a college degree, so they’re entry-level/professional. Three, all of our jobs pay a salary commensurate with industry standards, and four, we weed out all the scam jobs. Recent grads are susceptible to falling victim to those scams.”
Many recent grads and concerned parents have already utilized Gradspring. If you are a small business looking for young talent, Gradspring may also be an effective site to list you available positions.
