Startup Weekend Orange County October 18th
Ever wondered what it takes to be an entrepreneur?
The professional and personal challenges, the high and lows, the failures and the success?
Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 400 past events in 100 countries around the world in 2011.
The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.
All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.
Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur, register now for the best weekend of your life!
Are you a programmer, engineer, or designer who has thought about one day starting a startup? Have you already started it? Then you’re invited to a free, one-day startup school this October 19. We’ll have a range of experts speaking about startups from their own experience.
The atmosphere of energy in the room at startup school is something you have to experience to believe. Many founders have told us that this event was what finally made them take the leap.
The application deadline has now passed and we’ve responded to everyone who applied. See you there!
FailCon is a one-day conference for technology entrepreneurs, investors, developers, and designers to study their own and others’ failures and prepare for success.
We all have founded, worked for or invested in startups that have failed. We’re smart, we keep up with the latest in technology trends, but sometimes things just don’t go as planned. How can you predict what will work and what won’t? Well, you can’t.
But that doesn’t mean you should stop trying. It just means you should start exchanging stories of what didn’t work and how you pivoted, why you couldn’t raise money, what the wrong hires were like, and when you decided it was time to let go. Entrepreneurs need to hear that from each other: it’s okay to fail; it doesn’t mean you’re worthless. You’re just like the rest of us, learning from making mistakes and building something bigger next time.
BrandCamp is an annual one-day conference designed to spark the creation and acceleration of ideas that sit at the intersection of technology, design, and branding. Through a series of conversations, panel discussions and keynotes led by respected thought leaders, BrandCamp is part conference, part transformational training ground.
About 250 of Michigan’s most talented entrepreneurs, investors, designers, developers, and creatives will come together to learn, exchange ideas, and network in a format designed to inspire spirited discussion.
Since 2008, BrandCamp has been committed to fostering a community of innovators who are revolutionizing their communities and industries.
Join nearly 1,400 college students, faculty, and young entrepreneurs from around the world who attend the 2 ½ day CEO National Conference to network, learn, and be inspired to pursue their entrepreneurial passions. Over 80 outstanding entrepreneurs and business leaders will share their ideas and expertise as to how they launched their businesses, the lessons they’ve learned, and where they are today.
The 2013 National CEO Conference will return to Chicago’s Hyatt Regency McCormick Place the weekend of October 31 – November 2. Click here to access full conference details.
